Narrative

Inspiration: 

I have taken inspiration from different photographers and videos. I came up with the idea of using the fairy tale of Snow White from an unknown photographer on pinterest who focused on Alice in Wonderland. The photographer chose to focus on certain features of the story and emphasise them, for example the tea cups and prominent in many of the photographs. The photos are more close up which is effective as it draws you in to the character's story and therefore creates the feeling of a relationship between the viewer and the character.

I have chosen to follow the story of Snow White and therefore shall be focusing on key items in the story such as the mirror and apple, I will write the saying 'mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?' I have also taken inspiration from the Taylor Swift 'Blank Space' music as she is clutching an apple and she also has makeup running down her face which shows her distress. This puts a twisted outlook on the story, this is also evident in my photographer's photo with the blood on the pinafore as it creates discomfort for the viewer as they expect to see a sweet innocent fairytale character.

My Response:

I am going to take my photograph in a woodland as this links to the story of Snow White, I am therefore going to use a external flash light to light up her face, for the rest of the photo I will use natural daylight which will be disconnected as it will be through the trees, creating an eerie atmosphere. I am going to stage my model so they are holding the apple but in a violent way suggesting anger, they will also have makeup running down their face to show the trauma. I will place the main mirror with the writing 'mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?' in the background and will have the other mirrors hanging down from the trees. The mirrors and apple will therefore link to the story however the fact that she has makeup down her face and the mirrors are broken put a modern twist on it.
